The Government of the Punjab, School Education Department, has issued a notification dated August 21, 2026, announcing school timings for public schools across Punjab from August 24, 2026 to October 15, 2026. Under the notification, separate opening and closing hours have been specified for single-shift schools and double-shift/afternoon schools, covering morning and evening shifts from Monday to Friday. The notification also states that all public and private schools across Punjab shall remain from Monday to Friday with effect from August 24, 2026.

NOTIFICATION
NO.SO (ACAD-I)1-31/2025. Pursuant to approval of the Competent Authority, it is hereby notified that all Public & Private Schools across Punjab shall remain from Monday to Friday w.e.f. 24.08.2026.
2. It is further notified that school timings (opening & closing hours) in public schools shall be observed w.e.f 24.08.2026 to 15.10.2026 as follows:

Note: Chief Executive Officers (DEA) concerned may adjust the 15-minute gap in the opening and closing time of girls schools in the district as per convenience.
