Colombia Donates Seized Gold to Gaza for Palestinian Aid

Colombia’s first left-wing president, Gustavo Petro, has announced that gold confiscated from drug traffickers will be sent to Gaza to support the Palestinian people.
In a statement shared on social media, President Petro said the gold will be used for treating war-affected Palestinian children and for the reconstruction of Gaza. He described the initiative as “an act of humanity and global solidarity”, emphasizing that Colombia stands with the people of Palestine on humanitarian grounds and will take practical steps to support Gaza in this difficult time.
President Petro also revealed plans to propose a United Nations resolution calling for the creation of an international force dedicated to rebuilding and rehabilitating Gaza.
It’s worth noting that Gustavo Petro has long been a vocal supporter of Palestine, frequently condemning Israeli military operations and alleged human rights violations.
During his address at the UN General Assembly, Petro sharply criticized both the United States and Israel, and later joined a protest outside the UN headquarters in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
Last year, Colombia provided medical treatment to dozens of injured Palestinian children in hospitals across Bogotá, showcasing the nation’s ongoing humanitarian commitment to Gaza.
