Punjab 9th Class Board Results 2026: SED Appreciation & Action against Teachers & Heads

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has announced a new policy for the
9th Class BISE Examination 2026 results, under which Head Teachers, teachers and
students achieving 60% or above results will be recognized and appreciated.
According to the official notification dated 12 September 2026, special badges,
recognition certificates and appreciation certificates will be awarded to high-performing
government schools, while disciplinary proceedings may be initiated against Head Teachers
and teachers where overall or subject-wise results remain below 20%
.

60% AND ABOVE RESULTS AND INITIATION OF DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS
AGAINST HEAD TEACHERS / TEACHERS SECURING LESS THAN 20% RESULTS
IN 9TH CLASS BISE EXAMINATION, 2026

I am directed to state that the School Education Department has decided to appreciate
the Head Teachers, teachers and students of Government High and Higher Secondary Schools who
achieved 60% or above results in the 9th Class BISE Examination, 2026. All Chief Executive
Officers (DEAs) shall hold district-level appreciation events and invite parliamentarians,
district administration, local notables, philanthropists, alumni and educationists. The
best-performing Head Teachers, teachers and students may be awarded merit badges and
appreciation certificates / letters in recognition of their achievement as per following criteria:

1 60% to 79% Recognition certificates for satisfactory performance to the Head Teacher /
teachers / students. Hopefully, they will improve their results next year.
2 80% and above Special badges and appreciation certificates for Head Teachers /
teachers / students

The Department has also taken serious notice of the poor performance of certain schools
in the Class 9 Board Examinations, particularly those where the pass percentage has
remained below 20%. Such results reflect a grave lapse in academic supervision and teaching
standards, and the concerned Heads of Schools and subject teachers cannot be absolved of their
responsibility in this regard. The Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) shall therefore ensure
initiation of disciplinary proceedings under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and
Accountability Act, 2006 against: (a) Head Teachers whose schools achieved less than 20%
overall results in the 9th Class BISE Examination, 2026; and (b) teachers whose students
achieved less than 20% results in the relevant subject or subjects assigned to them.

Responsibility shall be determined from the approved school timetable, subject-wise
result and other relevant official record. Where a subject was taught jointly by two or more
teachers, the concerned CEO (DEA) shall determine individual responsibility.

4.
Proceedings against teachers up to BS-16 shall be initiated within the district by the
Competent Authorities under the applicable rules. Cases of Head Teachers and teachers in
BS-17 and above shall be referred, with complete record and specific recommendations, to the
School Education Department, Government of the Punjab, for action by the Competent Authority.

5.
The Competent Authority, as determined under the applicable rules, shall take strict
legal action under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006
against the Head Teachers and teachers held responsible for the poor results.

6.
Each CEO (DEA) shall submit a fortnightly implementation report to the Director Public
Instruction (SE) Punjab. The Director Public Instruction (SE) Punjab shall present consolidated
progress on the disciplinary proceedings to the Secretary, School Education Department.
The matter shall be accorded Top Priority.
