Subject:- HIRING OF SCHOOL TEACHER INTERNEES ISTIS1 PHASE-I
I am directed to refer to the subject noted above and to intimate that a Summary for Chief Minister Punjab was initiated for hiring of Teacher Internees (STIs). The Chief Minister desired to place the matter before the Standing Committee of Cabinet on Finance and Development. The matter was placed before the Standing Committee of Cabinet on Finance and Development. The Committee in its meeting held on 20th November, 2020 considered the matter and approved the recruitment of School Teacher Interns in a phased manner to meet teachers’ shortage and approve educational outcomes in the proposed areas of Punjab (Copy of the Minutes is attached).
2. The School Education Department floated the Summary by incorporating
following which was approved in the Summary:-
“These Internees will be hired on a fixed salary to be drawn from the allocated budget by the Government of the Punjab against sanctioned posts i.e.Rs.30,000/- for Higher Secondary, Rs25,000/- for Secondary, Rs.20,000/- for Elementary and Rs.18,000/- for Primary level. There shall be no fresh financial implications as the posts have already been sanctioned”.
4. The word “stipend” is irrelevant for the School Teacher Internees as they have to be paid the salary in lumpsum “as approved by the Standing Committee of Cabinet on Finance and Development/Chief Minister Punjab” against the sanctioned vacant posts out of the released budget of District Education Authorities under the PFC Shares. It is, therefore, advised that School Teacher Internees (STIs) may be made payment against already sanctioned posts and available budget.
