Daily Field Visits & School Cleanliness | Punjab Schools 2026

The Government of the Punjab, School Education Department has issued an urgent notification dated 1st September 2026 regarding Daily Field Visits and Ensuring Cleanliness of Schools. The department has expressed serious concern over the unsatisfactory physical condition of certain schools and inadequate field-level supervision. Under the new instructions, Chief Executive Officers (DEAs), District Education Officers (DEOs), Deputy District Education Officers (Dy. DEOs), Assistant Education Officers (AEOs), and Heads of Institutions have been directed to ensure effective supervision and cleanliness of schools. The instructions require daily visits by education officers, regular inspection of school premises, and thorough cleaning of classrooms, washrooms, playgrounds, corridors, boundary areas and other facilities.
Key Instructions
- Chief Executive Officer (DEA): Each CEO (DEA) shall visit at least two schools every day.
- District Education Officer (DEO): Each DEO shall visit at least three schools every day.
- Deputy District Education Officer (Dy. DEO): Each Dy. DEO shall visit at least four schools every day.
- Assistant Education Officers (AEOs): AEOs shall visit schools strictly in accordance with their prescribed schedule.
- Head Teacher/Principal: Every Head Teacher/Principal shall personally inspect the entire school premises twice daily, covering classrooms, washrooms, playgrounds, corridors, boundary areas and other facilities.
- Daily Cleaning: Schools shall be thoroughly cleaned after completion of classes each day so that the premises remain clean, hygienic and ready for students on the following school day.
- Meaningful Field Visits: All field officers and Heads of Institutions shall ensure that visits are meaningful and result-oriented.
- Physical Assessment: During visits, the actual condition of the school shall be physically assessed and deficiencies requiring attention shall be identified and addressed promptly.
- Strict Compliance: All Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) shall ensure strict compliance with these instructions in letter and spirit.

I am directed to convey that the Competent Authority has taken serious concern about the unsatisfactory physical condition of certain schools and inadequate field-level supervision by education managers. It has been desired that the following instructions shall be implemented with immediate effect:
- Each Chief Executive Officer (DEA) shall visit at least two schools every day.
- Each District Education Officer (DEO) shall visit at least three schools every day.
- Each Deputy District Education Officer (Dy. DEO) shall visit at least four schools every day.
- Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) shall visit schools strictly in accordance with their prescribed schedule.
- Every Head Teacher/Principal shall personally inspect the entire school premises twice daily, covering classrooms, washrooms, playgrounds, corridors, boundary areas and other facilities.
- Schools shall be thoroughly cleaned after completion of classes each day so that the premises remain clean, hygienic and ready for students on the following school day.
2. All field officers and Heads of Institutions shall ensure that the above visits are meaningful and result-oriented. During visits, the actual condition of the school shall be physically assessed and any deficiency requiring attention shall be identified and addressed promptly.
3. All Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) shall ensure strict compliance with the above instructions in letter and spirit and shall be responsible for ensuring effective supervision and cleanliness of schools within their respective jurisdictions.
