Punjab schools closed March 2026 notification has been officially issued by the Government of Punjab through the School Education Department. According to the notification dated 9 March 2026, all public and private schools across the province will remain closed from 10 March 2026 to 31 March 2026. The decision has been taken in view of the evolving international situation and its possible economic consequences that may affect fuel availability.

According to the official statement, the ongoing global conflict may create economic pressure including a potential shortage of oil. Therefore, the Punjab government has decided to temporarily close schools in order to support fuel conservation measures across the province. This step aims to reduce transportation and energy consumption while maintaining safety and stability during the uncertain global situation.

However, the notification clearly states that examinations and assessments that have already been scheduled will continue according to the previously announced timetable. Students who are appearing in board examinations will attend their exams as scheduled without any change. This ensures that the academic calendar and examination process continue without major disruption.

Furthermore, the School Education Department has advised educational institutions to maintain the continuity of academic activities through online platforms wherever possible. Schools may conduct online classes so that students can continue their learning process while campuses remain closed during this temporary period.

The notification also directs all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities in Punjab to ensure strict compliance with the government’s orders. District administrations and education officials will monitor the implementation of the decision across all public and private schools in the province.

Parents, teachers, and students are advised to stay updated through official announcements from the Punjab School Education Department for any further updates regarding school reopening or changes in the academic schedule.
