Subject: IMPLEMENTATION OF PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO ENSURE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF STUDENTS IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS
I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and in light of recent security concerns the Competent Authority has desired that the following precautionary measures must be implemented in all public and private schools across Punjab to safeguard the safety, security, and wellbeing of students:
- Ensure strict observance of safety protocols to prevent recurrence of any untoward incidents.
- Ensure functionality of CCTV cameras.
- Ensure proper use of Metal Detectors.
- Develop a mechanism for checking of student’s school bags on daily basis.
Educate students, teachers, and staff about the importance of safety, security and encourage reporting of any suspicious activity.
Students may be restrained to carry the following items in school premises:
- Firearms (pistols, guns, etc.)
- Sharp objects (knives, scissors, etc.)
2. I am further directed to request you to ensure compliance of the above instructions in letter and spirit and disseminate the same among all Heads of Institutions working under your administrative control, under intimation to this Department. Compliance report may be shared through official WhatsApp groups.
